Discover You

Winter months are a great time to reflect and escape into self discovery.  Many of us these days are realizing that there is more to life than meets the eye.  You may find yourself questioning the purpose of your life, debating on the existence of an afterlife, and wondering of you can make a difference in this world we currently call home.

You do have a purpose, there is an afterlife, and you can make a difference before you complete your journey here.  The important thing is to recognize you are not in competition with anyone and that you are here to learn and grow spiritually in your own way.  This famous quote rings true; we are spiritual beings on a human journey.

People at any given time are at different stages of evolution.  This is why we must periodically shed what no longer serves us.  As we grow, some of our friends stay the same.  This may require you to kindly go your own way.  Usually this occurs when you no longer need approval from society.  Believe me, not having to worry  about what others think of you is true spiritual freedom.

So take time this winter to visualize the things that would bring you true happiness.  The 14th Dalai Lama believes that the purpose of life is the attainment of happiness.  Visualize who your with, where you live, what types of foods you are eating, and anything else that would be a part of your happy life.  Write down these visuals in a journal.  You will start to see recurring themes.  Include dreams in your writings.  Often times dreams will piece themselves into a picture of your purpose.  Don’t be concerned at the speed of your evolution, but rather enjoy the discovery process. It is also not necessary to tell everyone you know about your self discovery.  It’s between you and your soul.

As you continue to explore the soul, you will experience more joy in everyday life.  Again, it’s the attainment of happiness that we’re after.  So make time for yourself.  Read books because they are offerings from other souls, take a nap, have a cup of tea, go out with some new friends, travel, and listen to your heart.  But don’t just follow it, lead it.
